漂珠是一種能浮于水面的粉煤灰空心球，呈灰白色，壁薄中空，顆粒細、重量輕，高強耐磨、表面封閉而光滑，熱導率小，耐火度高、保溫絕緣、應力應變均勻等多種功能，廣泛用于耐火、保溫材料的生產(chǎn)和在塑料、涂料、油漆油墨、陶瓷、封裝材料、地板膠、石油鉆探等領(lǐng)域作增強性填充料。能既有效地改善產(chǎn)品性能或施工效果，又明顯地降低生產(chǎn)成本，現(xiàn)已廣泛應用于耐火材料的原料之中。

【漂珠特性】

1、高耐火度：漂珠的主要化學成分為硅、鋁的氧化物，其中二氧化硅（SiO2)約為50-65%，三氧化二鋁(Al2O3)約為25-35%。因為二氧化硅（SiO2)的溶點高達1725攝氏度，三氧化二鋁(Al2O3)的溶點為2050攝氏度，均為高耐火物質(zhì)。因此，漂珠具有的耐火度，一般達1600-1700攝氏度，使其成為的耐火材料。

2、質(zhì)輕、保溫隔熱：漂珠壁薄中空，空腔內(nèi)為半真空，只有極微量的氣體(N2、H2及CO2等)，熱傳導極慢極微。所以漂珠不但質(zhì)輕(容重250-450kg/m3)，而且保溫隔熱(導熱系數(shù)常溫0.08-0.1)，這為其在輕質(zhì)保溫隔熱材料領(lǐng)域大顯身手奠定了基礎(chǔ)。

3、硬度大、強度高：由于漂珠是以硅鋁氧化物礦物相(石英和莫來石)形成的堅硬玻璃體，硬度可達莫氏6-7級，靜壓強度高達70-140MPa，真密度2.10-2.20g/cm3，因此，漂珠具有很高的強度。一般輕質(zhì)多孔或中空材料如珍珠巖、沸巖、硅藻土、海浮石、膨脹蛭石等均是硬度差、強度差，用其制的保溫隔熱制品或輕質(zhì)耐火制品，都有強度差的缺點。他們的短處恰恰是漂珠的長處，所以漂珠就更有競爭優(yōu)勢，用途更廣。
